Comparing salaries for nursing jobs in India and Europe (2025)

Nursing is still one of the most respected and sought-after jobs in the world.  But the pay scale for nurses is very different in India than it is in European countries.  Let’s look at the numbers for 2025 and see how they compare based on real data and trends.

In India, an R.N. with a degree in B.Sc. Nursing or GNM usually can earn 20000-45000 rupees per month at private hospitals, and Up to 60000 rupees monthly in top-tier institutions for nurses like D.M.C & AIIMS. Government hospitals are even more generous: the level is going to rise higher still after 7th Wage Commission with salaries averaging cost Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 per month for senior nurses at least.

But in Europe things are different. Nurses in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands earn comparatively good salaries as a consequence of both shortage and an aging population. In developed countries such a Germany, a qualified nurse on an average can earn between €2,800-3,500 (₹ 2.5–₹ 3.1 lakhs) per month before overtime and night shift allowance; With experience and fluent german (language level usually B1/B2) you can earn max €4000/month (~3.6 lakhs INR). Employers in Europe provide benefits like health insurance, paid time off, and offer career advancement opportunities along with the employment offer.
